The BOMB 2022 Keystone Barrel Competition team placed 2nd in last night's judging. The barrel-aged Belgian dark strong ale was a crowd (and judges') favorite. We were told the difference between 1st and 2nd place was very close. Congrats to Adam Ritter, Alex Crowe, Ed Nelling, Sean P. Mellody and Dave Bill. 
The event is to be featured in the next episode of What's Brewing PA to be aired on Saturday April 8th.

New BOMB merch has just hit the store. In addition to tasting glasses and club patches, we've added all metal BOMB signs, beer coasters and magnets. Everything you need to class up your taproom or beer cave!

The first BOMB Excursion of 2023 happened yesterday at Stampede Barbecue and Brewery in Mohnton PA. BOMB Homebrew Club members were given a tour of the brewery by head brewer Evan Detweiler. He discussed how the brewery operates on wood fire alone as a heat source. He also discussed how he strives to give customers an experience of what it might have been like to drink at an 19th century saloon in PA.
Stampede sources all of their malt from Deer Creek Malthouse in Glen Mills and their offerings include beers ranging from a bright Kolsch to a porter. In addition, they ferment their own hard cider...naturally the apple juice is sourced from a local orchard. In addition to house beers brewed on site, they serve spirits and mead, all sourced from PA distilleries and a local meadery.

Tomorrow's Stampede BBQ Excursion (Saturday March 25th) is all set! Plans to meet in the Main Hall (Enter Front Door, Room to the right with fireplace) at 10:50a. Tour begins at 11a.

Poured in PA's video does a great job of showing the broad spectrum of people the homebrewing craft attracts. ​On December 9th, the BOMB held their 2022 Holiday Party at the Rose Tree Fire Company in Media, PA. Attendees enjoyed a catered dinner, craft beer and home brews. In addition, there was a White Elephant gift swap that involved some friendly sniping of gifts.

​The BOMB recognized Andy Poole's service on the  board of directors as he is stepping aside at the end of this year so he could focus on other things...like brewing more beer!

The competition pack was close the entire year, but on Thursday night, there would be only one BOMBer that would earn the 2022 bragging rights of the BOMBing Run champion. Alex Crowe is the 2022 BOMBing Run champion. His Helles entry received 55 votes and a score of 12 to take 1st place over all in the competition. Rounding out the top 3 for 2022 are 2nd place Jake Wilson and 3rd place Kevin Harkness. 

​In the round, Alex won 1st place followed Jason Sturgeon (2nd place) and Adam Ritter (3rd place). Full results of the round and competition can be viewed here. Winners of this round and the competition finalists received prizes from our sponsors Five Star Chemicals, InkBird and Imperial Yeast.​

in addition to the prizes mentioned, the 2022 winners have been invited by James Baker, Head Brewer at 'Bout the Hops Brewing in Mount Laurel, NJ to brew at the brewery. The beer is scheduled to be on tap at the brewery later this year.
