We are a club of home brewers and beer enthusiasts from the Media, PA area who have been dedicated to the education and enjoyment of everything fermented beverages since 2016.

Our general meetings are held at the Sterling Pig Brewery every 3rd Thursday of the month at 7:00pm (subject to change).

The category for the first of three rounds is Irish Red Ale (BJCP 15A).

We had a great turnout and a lot of fun! From the delicious BBQ, to the plethora of sides and deserts, along with the interesting submissions for the "What's in the Bag" competition! Huge thank you to Sean and Lisa for hosting the BBQ again this year.

We are also looking for members who can provide the following items:

August's meeting will take place on Saturday, August 24th at 3pm at the home of Sean Mellody in Media, PA - RAIN OR SHINE. All current BOMB members are welcome to bring guests FREE of charge. To make your club's event a success, we are asking everyone to bring an item to the BBQ. Here is what you need to know:
  • The club is purchasing beer and soft drinks.
  • In addition, hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs and pulled pork BBQ will be provided to attendees.
  • BOMBers who signed up for the "What's in the Bag" Competition will bring their beer to the BBQ. 
  • "What's in the Bag" Brewers should package their beer in bottles or growlers. If brewers plan to bring their beer in push lock corny kegs, the club will supply the jockey boxes.
  • Members are encouraged to bring homebrew or commercial beer in bottles to share.
  • It is HIGHLY RECOMMENDED that you bring a lawn/camp chair for your comfort.
  • We need BOMB members to bring items such as salads, side dishes, deserts + provide the number of people who will be attending. 
  • Guests/kids are welcome but please, no dogs. There is a pool available but all children must be supervised.

Hello there, BOMB homebrew club members. Congrats on also participating in the AHA Insurance Program for peace of mind and protection (and when 75% of club members are AHA members it’s free, with 39% of the club currently AHA members).
The latest on AHA:
  • Here is an overview of the American Homebrewers Association and what we do on behalf of homebrewing and members.
  • In addition to being a club member, please consider joining the AHA. New and renewing 1-year members get a free Brewers Publications book (up to $25 value) and unmatched reasons, recipes, and rewards to brew.
  • Any account access questions don’t hesitate to call or email our membership team.
  • Opt-in to get the AHA What’s Brewing Newsletter (membership not required).
  • Please tag us on social when brewing @homebrewassoc!
AHA at GABF (October 10-12, Denver, CO)
  • We will have many more details for this year’s member gathering in early summer, and we realize it’s not Homebrew Con and will miss hosting that in 2024. We need the chance to reimagine an annual conference that is less expensive to host and attend. In 2022 and 2023, we simply did not have enough attendees to cover the costs.
  • Big picture, AHA at GABF will be a blast, a beer-filled, star-studded brewer (pro and homebrewer) event with more happening in beer than any other event in the U.S.
  • Geographically, we held HBC in Pittsburgh in 2022 and in San Diego in 2023, so the middle of the country was a viable option. Plus, we get to announce the NHC awards in the hall of GABF on 10/10 (they will also be live-streamed).
  • Please do put on your radar the AHA Bootcamp for Club Officers – Friday, October 11, 1:30 to 2:45, Colorado Convention Center
    • During this workshop, homebrew club officers from across the U.S. will provide an overview of various resources and best practices. Attendance will include members of the AHA Committee, homebrew club officers from representative groups, and seasoned club officers from long-standing homebrew clubs.

We'll be honoring last year's BOMBing Run winners and kicking off this year's competition the next club meeting This year's styles are:  
  • Round 1 - American Pale Ale (BJCP 18B) - April Club Meeting
  • Round 2 - Kolsch (BJCP 5B) - July Club Meeting
  • Round 3 - Barleywine - American or English (BJCP 22C or 17D) - November Club Meeting
The rules for this year's competition can be found here. IT IS IMPORTANT TO REMEMBER TO ONLY USE SILVER CAPS ON YOUR BOTTLES THAT ARE SUBMITTED FOR JUDGING.

Members who purchase ALL RECIPE INGREDIENTS at BREW YOUR OWN BEER in Havertown will receive a 10% discount on the total purchase cost.

The rain tried to wash out the Kennett Brewfest ...again, but festival goers came prepared to weather the storm. Their reward...hundreds of tasty beers to sample. The Kennett Brewfest has evolved into one of the most inclusive events in the Philly area craft beer culture. Brewers and lovers of craft beer mingle and sample beers from around the mid-Atlantic region. 
The event provides a venue for learning...beer lovers learn about the libations they seek and brewers learn about what they love...and don't. As home brewers, we live in the space between the two. We are students of the craft and lovers of the fruit of the passion of the craft. 
The brewing community has welcomed us with open arms... as family members who share the same passion and speak the same language. Craft beer fans have warmly embraced us as well. They are often surprised to find out the beers we are pouring were brewed by everyday people...just like them.
This year, Scott Birdwell, Vic Orlando, Paul Ward, Kevin Myers and Dave Bill poured for the club at the festival. They poured beer non-stop from start to finish. The rain didn't slow the the steady stream of people eager to belly up to the BOMB booth. Altogether, 9 beers were on tap. A special thanks to the following BOMBers who donated their time and beer to make the event a success!
